Gloria Introduces Legislation to Give Foster Youth Access to Healthcare Consistent with Gender Identity

SACRAMENTO, CA – California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) and a coalition of supporters including Equality California, Lambda Legal, American Civil Liberties Union, Los Angeles LGBT Center, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights announced today the introduction of AB 2119 – statewide legislation that would establish the right of foster youth in California to access gender affirming healthcare and behavioral health services.

Gloria Signs Letter to Assembly Budget Chair Calling for Billion Dollar Investment in State’s Housing and Homelessness Crisis

SACRAMENTO, CA – As the Legislature continues its budget development process, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) is urging Assembly Budget Chair California State Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) to allocate one billion of the State’s $6.1 billion budget surplus toward addressing California’s housing and homelessness crisis.

Gloria Proposes Common Sense Regulations for Concealed Carry Applicants including Minimum Training Standards & Live-Fire Proficiency

SAN DIEGO, CA – In an effort to strengthen California’s gun safety regulations, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) announced today the introduction of AB 2103 -- statewide legislation co-authored by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher (D-San Diego) that would bolster requirements for the issuance of concealed carry weapons (CCW) permits. AB 2103, co-sponsored by Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action, would finally set a minimum training time standard in state law and require applicants to perform live-fire exercises on a firing range before a CCW permit can be issued by a local jurisdiction.

Gloria Co-Authors Joint Legislative Resolution Opposing Federal Government’s Efforts to Perform Oil & Gas Drilling off California’s Coasts

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the California State Assembly adopted a joint resolution co-authored by California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) strongly opposing the Trump Administration’s proposal  to perform offshore oil and gas drilling and demanding U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke remove California’s offshore waters from the proposed leasing plan.

AB 1248 by Assemblymember Gloria to Preserve Students’ Rights to Cultural Expression Passes Assembly, Sent to State Senate

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the California State Assembly passed legislation authored by California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) that would protect the rights of California students to wear items of cultural significance on graduation day. AB 1248 received bipartisan approval on the Assembly Floor with a vote of 68-1 and will now head to the State Senate for consideration.
