Assemblymember Ward’s Statement on May Revise Budget Proposal

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO,CA) – Assemblymember Chris Ward (D-San Diego) released the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s 2022 State Budget proposal:

"With a record surplus to the state budget, I am pleased to see Governor Newsom include $18.1 billion in relief for Californians who are struggling due to inflation, and increased costs to fuel, groceries, energy, childcare and the general cost of living," said Assemblymember Ward. "It's also encouraging to see more prioritization for housing assistance, addressing homelessness and protecting reproductive healthcare in the coming year. I look forward to working with Governor Newsom and my legislative colleagues to finalize a budget that prioritizes relief for the working class."
