Civics Contest

civics contest

In an effort to promote civic education and encourage our young minds to become involved in the inner workings of our government and society, I am pleased to announce my third annual civics contest for fourth, eighth, and tenth graders who live in the 78th Assembly District! I believe that by fostering an understanding of civic responsibility, we can empower our youth to become informed and engaged citizens.

Fourth graders are invited to participate in the contest by picking one or more California State Symbols to feature in an art piece. Eighth graders are encouraged to highlight an issue they see in our community, and how they would solve it. Tenth graders can partake in the contest by nominating someone who lives in the 78th district for a Community Hero recognition. We will be accepting submissions until Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Please read the instructions carefully, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. I look forward to reading and reviewing the submissions we receive from the talented youth of AD 78!

Deadline to enter is Wednesday, December 17, 2025
