LEGISLATIVE UPDATE |
It's a busy and critical time at the Capitol. As committee hearings wind down, I'm closely reviewing Senate bills and tracking key budget decisions, especially how federal funds for our communities could be impacted by executive orders and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Protecting healthcare, schools, jobs, and economic stability remains front and center.
At the same time, I'm moving 13 bold bills through the Senate—tackling everything from privacy and housing to green energy and government transparency. These proposals are about delivering real results for Californians and final votes are just around the corner. Please head to my website to see how each bill strengthens our district and builds a better future for all.
JULY IN REVIEW |
Top Left: Attended the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Congressional Luncheon, where I got to hear from my federal counterparts about the work they are doing in Washington D.C. Top Right: In Sacramento, I introduced AB 322, a bill that updates the California Consumer Privacy Act to better protect Californians from having their precise location data collected, sold, or misused. Bottom Left: Stood in solidarity with the Legislative Latino Caucus to support SJR 9 which strongly condemns mass immigration raids and the use of the military in immigration enforcement and community protests. Bottom Right: Spent Fourth of July in Mission Hills and got to admire all their pie contest submissions.

PRIDE
I hope you all had a Happy Pride Month! Here in San Diego, we're keeping our celebrations rolling as we will soon be taking to the streets of Hillcrest this weekend at the San Diego Pride Parade to celebrate love, community, and equity! Last month, I had the honor and privilege of recognizing Susan Jester as Assembly District 78's Pride Month Honoree! Susan is a long-time advocate for the LGBTQ+ community who worked for the Human Rights Coalition (HRC) during the peak of the AIDS epidemic, as well as being a founding member of San Diego's first AIDS Walk. Susan now works as the public relations and media director at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. Be sure to click the link below to hear more!

Concerts in the Park
Summer is here, and so is the University Heights Summer Concerts in the Park series! Every Friday in July, residents can enjoy free live music at Old Trolley Barn Park.
It is a fantastic local tradition that brings our community together. A special thank you to the University Heights Community Development Corporation (UHCDC) for their hard work in putting together this wonderful event each year. I hope to see many of you there!
