Happy holidays, Assembly District 78! Here are a few updates from my office to wrap up 2024.

| LEGISLATIVE UPDATE |
My team and I are already getting a head start on next year's legislative session as last week I was proud to announce AB 6 to help identify issues in middle-income development building standards, to hopefully reduce costs with that goal being 30%. As Chair of the Housing and Community Development Committee, I believe we should be utilizing every available efficiency and cost-saving measure that preserves health and safety in building more affordable housing.

On Monday, December 2, I joined 79 of my colleagues up in Sacramento to be sworn into another two years serving our amazing 78th District. This past year, I was delighted to have been tapped by Speaker Robert Rivas to Chair the Committee on Housing and Community Development, I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue these efforts for another term to help address the cost of housing and the affordability crisis. I want to congratulate all of my new colleagues joining us in the Assembly and especially welcome our newest members to the San Diego delegation from the 75th, 76th, and 79th Assembly Districts, and our newest Senator for the 39th District, Dr. Akilah Weber.
I'm also happy to begin my new role as Chair of the California LGBTQ Legislative Caucus alongside Senator Caroline Menjivar as our new Vice-Chair. This year, we are welcoming two new members to the caucus, and I'm so proud of all the amazing work we've been able to accomplish that has enabled us to grow to 14 members strong!

It is once again the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are in full swing as there are so many events to attend during this month. Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to be a part of two amazing Balboa Park events, these being the re-opening of our beloved Botanical Garden and, of course, the ever-anticipated December Nights Tree lighting!
However you choose to celebrate this month, I hope you and your families have an amazing season filled with warmth, peace, and joy!
