Assemblymember Gloria Stands with Students
(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), about 40 other legislators and dozens of staffers gathered for a silent vigil on the steps of the State Capitol to show their solidarity with the thousands of students across the country who participated in the National School Walkout. The Walkout was planned to remember the 17 lives that were lost in a school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Assemblymember Gloria and the others stood silent for 17 minutes to honor each of the young lives lost in the Stoneman Douglas shooting. Assemblymember Gloria says the silent vigil was symbolic of what needs to be done, “I think that’s what we need more of…less talking and more doing both here in the capitol in California but also specifically with Congress back Washington DC.” Watch this Assembly Access video to hear more of Assemblymember Gloria’s remarks.
