Assemblymember Todd Gloria Issues Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Upholding Trump’s Muslim Travel Ban

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

SACRAMENTO, CA – California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) issued the following statement today after the United States Supreme Court announced its decision to uphold President Donald Trump’s travel ban from Muslim nations:

“Just as the Supreme Court has been wrong before, I believe it is absolutely wrong today. It is not within the President’s authority to discriminate based on race or religion – and that is exactly what Trump’s travel ban does.

“To all those feeling and affected by the Supreme Court’s shameful decision today, I want you to know this administration does not reflect California’s values. California will continue to be a place for everyone – a place that honors the dignity and upholds the rights of all people.

“Since the inauguration of Donald Trump, California has been the center of the resistance to his racist and xenophobic policies. Make no mistake, that will continue. California is on the right side of history, but we must keep fighting.
