Assemblymember Todd Gloria Comments on Passage of Trumpcare by U.S. House of Representatives

Thursday, May 4, 2017

SAN DIEGO, CA – Following the United States House of Representatives’ passage of the newest version of the American Health Care Act – commonly known as Trumpcare – California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) released this statement:

Repealing the Affordable Care Act will cause millions of Californians to lose their health insurance. Today’s vote is a scary testament to the willingness of the President and Congress to eliminate essential health benefits for the poor and middle class in order to give an enormous tax cut to the richest Americans.

Healthcare is a right, and we in the California State Legislature will continue to fight against Trumpcare because we can’t afford to go back to the time when 48 million Americans did not have health insurance.”

Assemblymember Gloria represents the 78th Assembly District of California, which includes the Cities of Coronado, Del Mar, Imperial Beach, San Diego, and Solana Beach. He also serves as the Assistant Majority Whip. Assemblymember Gloria’s official, high-resolution photo can be downloaded here.
