Gloria Issues Statement Following Assembly’s Passage of the California Values Act, Bill Now Heads to Governor Brown
SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the California State Assembly voted to approve the California Values Act SB 54 -- legislation that would limit the involvement of state and local law enforcement in federal immigration enforcement. As a supporter of this legislation, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) issued this statement following its passage:
“I represent some of San Diego’s most diverse neighborhoods and I know that local law enforcement must have the trust of the communities they police in order to be successful. The California Values Act ensures that our local and state officials remain focused on protecting our communities not on enforcing federal immigration orders.”
