SACRAMENTO, CA – As part of the California State Legislature’s annual Women of the Year ceremony that recognizes the achievements of outstanding women throughout the state, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) announced today that he has named Diane Takvorian, co-founder and executive director of the San Diego-based Environmental Health Coalition, as the Woman of the Year for the 78th Assembly District.

(San Diego)  – Joined by supporters from Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action, Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D–San Diego) announced new gun safety legislation. His Assembly Bill 2103 would require in-person fire arms training before receiving a permit to carry a concealed handgun in public. Assemblymember Gloria pointed out that California currently requires more training to get a driver’s license than it does to get a concealed gun permit.

Gloria and City Leaders Unveil AB 2372, the CASA Housing Act, to Permit Compact, More Affordable Housing Units near Public Transit

SAN DIEGO, CA – Continuing his commitment to combat California’s housing crisis, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) announced his introduction of new state legislation today to spur the production of affordable workforce and low-income housing within transit priority areas. AB 2372, known as California’s Sustainable and Affordable (CASA) Housing Act, is sponsored by the City of San Diego and was proposed by San Diego City Councilmember Georgette Gómez as part of her 2017 Housing Action Plan.
