(Sacramento).- The pressure is mounting on the White House and the President to protect the five year old immigration program know as DACA. The program allows undocumented immigrants who entered the country as minors, to receive a two year period od deferred action from deportation and makes them eligible for a work permit.

The Public’s Right-to-Know Act to Become Law in 2018, Public to Receive More Insight into Special Interest Funding of Local Measures

SACRAMENTO, CA – Legislation authored by California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) that would increase transparency in local elections by shining light on the special interests financers of local ballot measures and referendums was signed by Governor Brown today and will become law in 2018. AB 187, also known as the Public’s Right-to-Know Act, is the first bill ever introduced by Assemblymember Gloria as a state legislator and is his first bill to be signed by the Governor.

State Senate Approves AB 901, Elections for County of San Diego Offices Stand to Change with Governor’s Signature

SACRAMENTO, CA – Legislation authored by California State Assemblymembers Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) and Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) that would change the elections process for County of San Diego officials and ensure more voters are heard in county-level elections was approved by the California State Senate today by a vote of 23-14. With this approval, the bill will now be sent to the Governor.

The Public’s Right-to-Know Act to Shed Light on Special Interest Funding of Local Measures & Referendums Sent to Governor

SACRAMENTO, CA – Legislation authored by California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) that would shed light on the special interest financers of local ballot measures and referendums cleared its final hurdle today. AB 187, known as the Public’s Right-to-Know Act, passed the California State Senate with bipartisan support by a vote of 27-to-11 and will now be sent to the Governor.

Last month, we cut ribbons on Talmadge Gateway and Cypress Apartments — two affordable-housing projects that will provide a combined 122 new homes in San Diego for struggling seniors and people who have been chronically homeless. At Talmadge Gateway, we met Marvina and Michael — two local seniors who expressed profound relief to finally have roofs over their heads and the chance to lead a stable life after years of instability.

Projects like these are critical as housing has become increasingly unaffordable. Virtually every Californian can attest to the increased cost of living we have seen in recent years.
