City and County’s Response to Hepatitis A to be Evaluated by State Auditor, Gloria Seeks to Ensure Public Safe from Future Health Crises

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) officially approved the request by California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) for a state audit to review the City and County of San Diego’s response to the Hepatitis A outbreak that claimed the lives of 20 people and infected more than 500 last year.

Gloria, Chiu Bill to Demilitarize State and Local Law Enforcement Clears First Major Hurdle, Advances in the Assembly

SACRAMENTO, CA – Legislation by California State Assemblymembers Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) and David Chiu (D-San Francisco) that would better regulate law enforcement’s purchase and acquisition of military-grade equipment earned the approval of the Assembly’s Local Government Committee with a vote of six to three and will now advance to the Assembly’s Public Safety Committee.

Cities, School Districts, and Other Public Entities Would Be Eligible for Unspent MHSA Funds Under New Bill by Assemblymember Gloria

SACRAMENTO, CA – With approximately $2.5 billion dollars in Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding unspent in county coffers, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego) unveiled state legislation today that would force county governments to spend those dollars or have them re-allocated to other public entities.
